Tips for choosing a wedding photographer

The choice of a wedding photographer is important and difficult matter. So I put together some practical advice to help prepare your future wedding photo shoot.

Here is a short list of what will help you when choosing a wedding photographer:

  1. Choose photographer with works that you like.
  2. Make sure that the photographer publishes his work, not strangers.
  3. Find photographer’s clients and contact them directly, ask them for an assessment of the photographer’s work.
  4. Write, or rather, call several photographers.
  5. Ask about work experience, about the services offered, about the benefits, about the work process.
  6. Ask about the result of the photographer’s work, how many photographs will be, in what form they will be transmitted, how much time after the wedding you will receive the photographs.
  7. After a phone call, make an appointment. The choice of a wedding photographer should be conscious and you should know what you get for your money.

What wedding photographers generally offer

Each wedding photographer offers his packages of services and his own pricing policy. But if in general, wedding photographers set prices based on the time of shooting and the volume of processed photos.

The most common service packages are 3-4 hours of shooting, 5-6 hours of shooting, 8-10 hours of shooting and more than 12 hours of shooting.

You should also know that in the popular months for a wedding, for example, in June, a good wedding photographer is unlikely to agree to work with a minimum order, because he can easily find customers who want to receive the whole package of services.

Also, photographers can offer the creation of wedding photo albums and photo books.

Each wedding photographer has his own deadlines for returning finished materials.

I can only speak for myself, but I give the finished photos after 7 days from the wedding. And don't ask why other photographers give away photos in a few months. I honestly don’t know how to justify for others.
